Hi, my name is Mike.
I have been in the health & fitness industry for a little over 6 years. Within that time, I have maintained a health lifestyle and have had the pleasure of passing on my knowledge to other's that have seeked out my help.
In 2008, I was involved in a motorcycle accident that forced me out of physical activity for almost 12 months. Within this time, I found my lazy-self. I found that day by day I would be eating more and moving less. I won't lie- I enjoyed it.
However, I know that part of my life is done. That person is not me, it was just an accident that occurred that cause temporary changes to my lifestyle. I thought I enjoyed it, but it is just not me.
I have had times of excellence since then, where I have lost a considerable amount of weight. I take one step forward, then 3 steps back.
I am committing myself to participate in the Catalina Island Triathlon in November, 2010.
Like most hobbies or interests, I take a lot of time in researching and finding out whatever I can about it.
So far, I have a lot of information on the event itself.
It is:
-875 yard swim
-10 mile bike
-3.1 mile run
Today, I've taken a lot of time in figuring out my exercise regime, as well as my nutrition plan.
2 things are going to prove difficult.
For starters, I have no job- Due to my visa restrictions, I am not allowed to work, so there goes the idea of getting a pushbike any time soon. I'm guessing I'm going to have to head to the gym for an indoor spin bike.
Secondly, I have no car, and am situated about an hour from the beach, so I won't be able to do much, if any, open water ocean swimming. I will have to track down a pool and test my luck in that.
I have a few pounds to shed, so I'm thinking I'll go 4 weeks straight of cardio. Whether it's running around where I live, or running the 2.6miles to the gym and training on my swimming and cycling there, then walking/running back. I will also include body weight upper/lower exercises with this.
Also, I will dedicate one or two days to plyometrics and yoga/stretch.
Nutrition will make, or break this.
I have to shed some pounds, however, my workouts are going to be extremely intense. A lazy and uneducated trainer would say "Go for calorie deficit".
Instead, I'm going to increase my calories to a phenomenal amount. An astronomical amount, in fact.
I have 6 months, and within that time I want to:
-> Up my cardio (Need to test swim/bike/run)
-> Drop body fat percentage down to 12%
-> Add on approx 2Lbs of lean muscle.
There's more, but that it it for now.
Tomorrow, I celebrate my 23rd birthday. This is it.
Wish me luck
